Role Overview:
We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Junior HR & Payroll Administrator to take ownership of day-to-day payroll administration and HR support activities, with a strong focus on timesheet management and payroll coordination through Employment Hero. This role will support a growing construction business and will work closely with internal stakeholders to ensure accurate employee records, payroll inputs, project allocation tracking, and onboarding administration.
The ideal candidate is someone who can work independently, manage recurring payroll processes with minimal supervision, and maintain high accuracy across employee and payroll data.

Duties and Responsibilities

Payroll & Timesheet Management (Primary Focus)
Own end-to-end timesheet administration and payroll preparation support using Employment
Hero.
Monitor and process payroll requirements in line with Australian payroll standards, including leave
entitlements, superannuation, public holidays, overtime calculations, and payroll deadline.
Manage and maintain accuracy in timesheet-heavy environments, ensuring employee hours,
payroll records, and workforce allocations are properly tracked and validated.
Track employee allocation across multiple projects/sites and ensure hours are captured accurately.
Follow up with employees regarding missing, incomplete, or incorrect timesheets, including phone
calls or direct communication as needed.
Escalate any payroll or timesheet discrepancies, concerns, or unresolved issues to the relevant
manager in a timely manner.
Support managed payroll processing by ensuring complete and accurate payroll inputs.
Generate payroll reports and support reconciliation activities.

HR Administration
Prepare, administer, and maintain new employee onboarding documentation and information for
accurate system set-up and processing.
Maintain and update employee records and HR documentation in Employment Hero.
Prepare employment contracts and standard HR documents using approved templates.
Conduct routine audits and file checks to ensure documentation completeness.
Support general HR administration and process improvements.

Process & Data Management
Identify opportunities to improve payroll and timesheet workflows.
Ensure confidentiality, compliance, and data integrity at all times.
Work independently while escalating exceptions or concerns where required.

Skills and Qualifications:
Minimum 2–4 years’ experience in Australian Payroll, HR Administration, HR & Payroll Support, or
Payroll Operations within an Australian business environment.
Proven experience supporting end-to-end payroll processes, including payroll preparation,
timesheet validation, payroll inputs, employee data maintenance, and payroll reporting.
Exposure to Australian HR administration processes, including onboarding documentation,
employee records management, contract/document preparation, and general HR support
functions.
Experience using payroll and HRIS platforms such as Employment Hero (preferred), Xero Payroll,
ADP, MYOB, SAP, Workday, or similar systems.
Solid understanding of Australian payroll processes, Fair Work compliance, awards interpretation,
and employment regulations.
Working knowledge of Australian payroll requirements, including leave entitlements,
superannuation, public holidays, overtime calculations, and payroll deadlines.
Strong experience handling timesheet-heavy environments and maintaining accuracy across
employee hours, payroll records, and workforce allocations.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and spreadsheets for payroll reconciliation, reporting, and
data tracking.
